2nd day.
Breakfast.
City tour of Kyiv - the capital of Ancient Russia and modern Ukraine - one of the oldest cities in Europe. You will see the fascinating Cathedral of St. Sophia with its outstanding mosaics and frescoes dating back to the 11th century, old streets and gold domed churches, beautiful squares and parks.
After lunch we will take you to Pecherska Lavra – Monastery which received pilgrims from all over Europe. This twenty-eight hector functioning monastery contains not only churches, towers and underground cave system but it is also the richest Kyiv museum.
Departure to Moscow by night train.
3rd day.
Early morning arrival to Moscow. Breakfast at the restaurant. Departure for a tour of Holy Trinity St. Sergius Monastery in the town of Sergiev Posad. For centuries the monastery has been the biggest religious and cultural center of the Russian state where famous icon painters Andrey Rublev and Daniel Horny worked. The ensemble includes the biggest Russian monastery, the monastery necropolis and the Moscow Ecclesiastical Academy and Seminary. The lunch will be served at the Refectory of Seminary. Return to Moscow; check in at the hotel.
Afternoon city tour. Moscow was the capital of Russia during the Middle Ages and the symbol of the Soviet Empire and now days it is the capital of modern Russia. Each period of the dramatic history of this country has left the mark on the face of Moscow. Ancient churches and palaces at the Kremlin tell the story of Moscow’s rise into power in the 14th century; the Kremlin storages reveal the treasures of the Russian Empire; Red Square where military parades took place, red ruby stars on the ancient towers, Lenin’s Tomb, empyreal Stalin sky scrapers stand as witnesses to the dramatic events of the Soviet Union era.
4th day.
Breakfast. Kremlin Tour. Every building is symbolic here: Assumption cathedral – the centre of spiritual life, Archangel Michael – the burial place of the Russian Tsars, Grand Kremlin Palace – the former residence of the Royal family and the current residence of the president of Russian Federation, the Armory Chamber – the treasury of Russian tsars. While the collection of arms is impressive, it is really the collection of jewelers, gold and silver dinner sets, Faberge eggs, royal carriages, coronation and wedding dresses, crowns and thrones that make this museum an exceptional site. Lunch at typical restaurant. We will continue our tour with a relax walk through the famous Arbat Street – one of the oldest streets of the city. We will explore the Moscow subway system which is extremely efficient carrying approximately 9 ml. passengers a day where each station is a palace decorated with pressures stones, mosaics, stained glass, cupolas, and colonnades.
As a last glance of Moscow we will take you to the highest point Vorob’evy Hills with beautiful view to the city. Departure to Novgorod by night train.
5th day.
Arrival to Novgorod. Early check in. After breakfast you will have walking tour of Novgorod. You will see the Kremlin with beautiful St. Sophia belfry – the unique monument of Russian history and culture of the 9th century. The famous icons of the 15-17th centuries, the masterpieces of applied arts are kept here. You will see Magdeburgskie and Korsunskie gates. The Yaroslavovo Dvorische (Yard) is a unique ensemble of Novgorodian ancient monuments.
Lunch at a typical restaurant. In the afternoon you will go by comfortable bus to a charming place on the lake Ilmen’s bank where you will see the ancient Yuriev Monastery in surroundings of beautiful nature. Chamber of Yuriev Monastery boast wonderfully preserved frescos. The Open Air Museum of Wooden Architecture “Vitaslavitsy” is nearby and gives you impression of 16th century architecture. Dinner.
6th day.
Breakfast. Departure to St. Petersburg by comfortable bus. Arrival. After the lunch you
will take relaxing boat trip along Neva River and channels to feel the authentic city's atmosphere and enjoy it’s full splendor. Check in at the hotel. At afternoon St. Petersburg tour with all significant sights, you will see overwhelming Palace square and Winter Palace, famous Nevskiy Avenue and Church of Redeemer, the classical ensemble of Senate Square with “Bronze Horseman”, the spire of Admiralty and beautiful Nicolas Navy Cathedral and of course the cradle of St. Petersburg - Peter and Paul Fortress.
7th day.
Breakfast. Early morning walking tour on Palace square with a stop at St.Issaac Cathedral. Tour of Hermitage museum which is not only one of the largest in the world but also a former official residence of Russian Royal family with beautiful interiors of the staterooms, an architectural splendor and a historical battle place during the revolution. After lunch you will have tour of Peter and Paul Fortress. During your visit we will see where the last Romanovs executed by communists are berried now.
8th day.
Breakfast. Tour of Catherine’s the Great summer residence. Yet another beautiful palace built in the 18th century first in baroque style and later rebuilt after Catherine’s the Great order in neo classical style. After lunch return to the hotel via a World War II memorial for the battle of Leningrad.
9th day.
Breakfast. Departure to Peterhof - a summer residence of Russian Emperors.
Founded by Peter the Great it became a rival to Versailles. The lower garden by the palace is a masterpiece in itself. 173 fountains for almost 300 years have been amusing visitors here.
Farewell dinner with folklore at one of the best restaurants.
10th day.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
