About country

Latvia is bound by the Baltic Sea to the west, the Gulf of Riga and Estonia to the north, Russia to the east, Belarus to the southeast and Lithuania to the south. The country is generally low lying with a gentle undulating terrain interspersed by hills and ridges. Along the Baltic Sea coast including the Gulf of Riga, the coastline is smooth and fringed by low muddy beaches and sand dunes. With 12,310 rivers and 3,000 lakes the country has many opportunities for boating and walking and just enjoying the outdoors.

Latvia is one of Northern Europe's most exciting places hidden away from the world's view for over half a century by the Soviet occupation. Prior to the occupation, Latvia was one of the most dynamic parts of Europe with exciting possibilities. After the collapse of the Soviet system, Latvia is struggling to regain its strength and place in the world.

There is a lot to do and see during Latvia tour from the untouched nature to the historic buildings dating back to the days of the great trading in the Hanseatic League. There are many small medieval towns, country castles, museums and folk parks to be visited. Check out Riga, a city that has come to life again since the end of Soviet occupation. Superb architecture, from the medieval to the Art Nouveau, an old city that rivals Prague, operas and concerts, an active artistic life, smart shops and intimate restaurants, all testify to her being once again a major European capital.

Come and experience for yourself this very special country and the possibilities of its exciting future. Outside of Riga, be prepared to step back into history, as the infrastructure in most parts is not yet developed as that in Riga. Be patient and understanding and you will have a remarkable.
